Lisa's Approach
Why Lisa designs this way.
Most front-yard mistakes are scale mistakes. A two-story house with a four-foot hedge against the foundation looks naked. A small bungalow with mounded shrubs looks buried. We design to the house, not against it. Color goes where the eye lands first. Structure goes where you need it in January.
Plant Pairings
Foundation Plants We Reach For
Loropetalum (compact)
Burgundy foliage, pink flush in spring, structure year-round.
Simpson's Stopper
Native, fragrant, the foundation plant Lisa actually loves.
Sunshine Ligustrum
Gold tone, sun-tolerant, edits the eye toward the door.
Dwarf Yaupon Holly
A neat low hedge that doesn't ask for monthly haircuts.
Carolina Jessamine
Lights up a mailbox post or pergola in February.

"Our realtor took new listing photos two weeks after Lisa finished. The house looks like it gained a hundred thousand dollars."
